What Is The SSRS Report Builder

The SSRS Report Builder:

The SSRS Report Builder provides users with a powerful platform for creating sophisticated paginated reports. These carefully crafted documents present data in an easy-to-digest manner, similar to spreadsheets or tables stored inside databases. Reports can be converted into multiple file formats such as PDF and Excel for optimal sharing and viewing capabilities - making it the go-to tool when presenting information professionally!

The SSRS Report Builder is built on top of the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) platform, and it allows users to create and manage reports by using a drag-and-drop interface. It also supports a wide variety different formats of data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, and other data sources via OLE DB and ODBC connectors.

Users can create and design the report by adding tables, charts, and other visualizations, and they can also customize the layout and formatting of the report. The report can then be published to a SSRS a report server or exported to a file.

Some of the features of the SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) Report Builder include:

A visual, drag-and-drop interface for creating and designing reports

Support for various data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, and OLEDB

The ability to create and display tables, matrices, charts, and gauges in reports

The ability to apply filters and sorting to report data

Support for parameters and cascading parameters to allow user input in report

The ability to export reports to various formats, such as PDF, Excel, and CSV

Support for creating subreports and drillthrough reports

The ability to schedule and automatically deliver reports via email or file share

The ability to create and use custom code in reports using Visual Basic or C#

Support for creating mobile reports for viewing on smartphones and tablets.

Export TO XSL

Run the SSRS report you want to export to Excel. Ensure that the report displays the data you need in the desired format.

Look for the export options provided by SSRS, usually located at the top or bottom of the report viewer.

Select "Excel" from the list of export formats.

Depending on your SSRS configuration, you may be presented with additional options before the export is initiated. These options may include formatting preferences or sheet names.

After selecting Excel as the export format and any desired options, SSRS will generate the Excel file containing the data from your report. You'll typically be prompted to save the file to your local system.

Once the file is saved, locate it on your computer and open it using Microsoft Excel or any other compatible spreadsheet software.

Review the data in the Excel file to ensure that it matches the content of the SSRS report. Pay attention to formatting and any potential differences in presentation between the report and the exported Excel file.

SSRS RepServicesorting Services - End Of Life

Microsoft has announced plans to deprecate SQL Server Reporting Services for existing in the all subsequent versions of SQL Server after 2022. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/reminder-of-features-being-removed-with-the-next-release-of-sql-server/

What Is The Difference Between Reporting Services And Report Builder Services

The main difference between SSRS and Report Builder is the level of complexity and the intended audience.

SQL Server Reporting Services:

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a full-featured reporting platform that is included in the SQL Server product. It is a server-based solution that allows for the creation, management, and delivery of reports. It provides a wide range of features, including a Report Designer, Report Manager, and a web portal for viewing and managing reports. It is intended for professional report developers and IT staff.

Report Builder:

Report Builder, on the other hand, is a standalone tool that allows users to create reports in a more user-friendly, drag-and-drop interface. It does not have all the features of SSRS, but it provides a simpler way for end-users and business analysts to create and design reports. Reports created using Report Builder can be saved to a report server, or exported to a file.

In summary, SSRS is a more powerful and complex solution that is intended for professional report developers and IT staff, while Report Builder is a simpler solution that is intended for end-users and business analysts.

What Is The Difference Between Paginated Reports and SSRS Report Builder?

Paginated reports and SSRS Report Builder are both related to creating and designing reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), but they have different characteristics security features and uses.

Paginated reports, also known as RDL (Report Definition Language) formatted reports, are fixed-layout reports that are optimized for printing or viewing on a screen with a fixed resolution. They are typically used to display a report type of detailed data in a structured format, such as a table or matrix. Paginated reports can be created using Report Builder, Visual Studio, or other RDL design tools.

SSRS Report Builder, on the other hand, is a user-friendly, visual report creation tool that allows users to easily design and create reports without having to write code. It provides a drag-and-drop interface printed reports, a wide range of data visualization options, and the ability to easily connect printed reports to various data sources. It is typically used to create ad-hoc reports, or reports that do not need to be as highly formatted as paginated reports.

Both Paginated report and Report builder are used in SSRS to report users create reports but have different characteristics and use cases. Paginated reports are optimized for printing or viewing on a screen with a fixed resolution and used to display detailed data in a structured format, whereas, Report builder is a user-friendly, visual report designer and creation tool that allows users to easily design and create reports without having to write code.
